What is ADAS?

Modern vehicles use cameras and sensors mounted to or near the windshield to power safety features like lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. After a windshield replacement, these cameras must be precisely recalibrated to ensure they read the road correctly and keep you safe.

When Is Recalibration Needed?

After any windshield replacement on an ADAS-equipped vehicle

If your dash displays camera-related warning lights

If lane assist or collision warnings seem inaccurate or erratic

After a front-end collision or major structural repair

Most vehicles model year 2016 and newer have ADAS features that require recalibration.

Two Types of Recalibration

Static Recalibration

Performed in a controlled environment using specialized target boards and imaging equipment. The vehicle must be precisely positioned on a level surface to ensure exact camera alignment.

30–60 minutes

Dynamic Recalibration

Performed by driving the vehicle at specific speeds on public roads while connected to diagnostic equipment. The system recalibrates by reading real-world lane markings and road features.

20–30 minutes of driving
